Pentathlon/Specialties and Campfire

This morning we wrapped up our specialty training with victories at KAA in “seven on seven” football and basketball. These K-2 kids put their hearts out on the field every day. I’m so proud of them!

This afternoon we celebrated the “Bill Lantz Memorial Pentathlon” with every cabin competing in a race commemorating the early days of Kanakuk with running, canoeing, swimming, chins, and archery. The girls cabins dressed up alike in “tie dye” and other creative ensembles. For the boys to be able to find two socks that matched was considered a major victory.

Tonight was Final Campfire and a challenge to decide “who is going to paint the canvas of my life”…peers, media, or God. It was a beautiful evening.

Parents day has arrived. We’re sad to see it end. Everyone agrees, our 85th summer was by far our best. To God be the glory!

Parting is such sweet sorrow! Sweet, because there are better young men and women. More ready to lead more ready to ”walk the walk”. More ready to live “I'm 3rd”. Sorrow because we have become a family sorrow because no one wants to say goodbye. Sorrow because so many great moments – so many great memoirs have been stored up.

We are all so thankful you allowed this to happen.

Wow! What a pretty day! Great day for sports. Nice breeze for sailing. Lots of happy happy kampers getting things settled in their heart; gaining courage to “live it out” at school and with their friends.

Last night we had a “double dip.” K-Life in “the theatre” then late night out under the stars seeing God’s heavenly creation and gaining insight from the scientific world on “intelligent design” and the vast evidence for a Creator who loves us.

Tonight was the Afterdark in the Ark party. So many kids brought great creative costumes. So much fun seeing kids have so much clean wholesome fun.

These are really super kids this term!

Happy day, cross talk tonight, freedom, peace, comfort, foundation, strength, purity, wholeness, confidence in Christ, tears of peace. Impossible to describe all the words of comfort and emotions of peace. That God was able to communicate threw the cross

Good kids getting better hurting kids getting well, strong kids prepare to leave, uncertain kids becoming strong.

Its great to watch God do what only God can do.

We worked out this morning in all of our sports. The “Kamp Spirit” was high and uplifting. This afternoon we had a “pool, water slide & dock party for 2 ½ wonderful hours. Tonight we had our World’s Fair Party, dressed up like it was the best party we’ve ever been to, turned on fun, positive music, and did “dance aerobics” until our feet were ready for bed. These are great days! Yours are great kids!

It always a highlight when Michael W Smith make his annual trip to K-2. For 26 year Smitty has been our “theme “ song writer and the dad, husband and singer kids have always looked up to and know he did not just sing his music but lived it.

The kids had so much fun tonight singing (screaming ) his songs of yesterday and today

Today was such a good day. Our kids this team is such a pleasure to work with. They smile a lot. Our “all-around kids “ just play all day long and love staying wet at the dock and pool. Our specialties kids are training hard are really stepping it up and getting ready for fall sports seasons. Either way they go it’s all the same to us. Kids are appreciated here for being who God creates them to be.

Thank you for making this summer 85-birthday possible.

From the first bit of coffee cake until the last K-life song, Sunday is by far the most popular day at k-2. We have had a really good day today. At K-Equip today after I taught the kids about the scientific evidence for intelligent Design, one girl came up for prayer. She was struggling with her emotions. Immediately four Kampers came around her and began to encourage her, pray for her, befriend her. It was such a great picture of why kids love this place so. These kids really do care about each other.

Today was a wonderful day. Thank you for your prayers!
